Four of my favourite overnight masks

Happy Sunday lovelies.

Everyday is a good day for a mask in my eyes and I’m willing to put a lot of different things on my face in the name of skincare. Each type of face mask has value, I love an exfoliating mask to help brighten my skin when I’m feeling a bit grey, a clay mask for a deep and clarifying cleanse and a soothing mask when my skin is agitated. I’m here today to talk about hydrating masks, specifically overnight masks.

I have always found my evening skincare routine to have a lovely meditative effect which helps me wind down before bed. An overnight mask really amps up this feeling and adds a certain luxurious something knowing that I’ll be waking up with soft, bright skin. When I want that, these are the masks that I reach for.

Summer Fridays Jet Lag

There isn’t much I can say about Jet Lag that hasn’t already been said. It has reached cult status and for a good reason and you can’t scroll through Instagram without seeing this blue tube pop up. This mask is an absolute dream for when you want to look bright, well rested and glowing. Jet Lag doses skin with hydrating properties such as nourishing ceramides and antioxidants, including vitamin C, niacinamide, exfoliating chestnut extract and green tea extract which is great for depuffing the face.

Jet Lag is a vegan formula and it would be easy to think that this is a heavy product but it is really lightweight and sinks into the skin really well! I love to use when my face is feeling dry or I’ve been in a really smoggy place and during transit, for ten minutes you can forget that you are on a plane, take a deep breath and relax.

The skincare marvels behind Summer Fridays use this as a hydrating primer as well and it works very well as an eyecream. It is pricey but so worth it. £42.

Plenaire Skin Frosting

Plenaire is a relatively new brand but their products are so good it feels like they’ve been mastering them for decades. Skin Frosting might just be my favourite product of theirs, this mask is intensely hydrating and nourishing. It contains coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter and camelia oil which encourages elasticity while deeply hydrating. It has a sweet, subtle scent which doesn’t linger and isn’t saccharine.

I absolutely love Skin Frosting, it feels like mousse and is so nice and foamy. I use this when my skin is feeling dry and needs a pick me up and I think it will be great in the summer after a long dreamy day in the sun. When I wear this mask, after 15 minutes when it has sunk in a fair amount I use my gua sha to make sure that it penetrates every nook and cranny of my face and neck. Plenaire is all about vegan, sustainable products which are effective, multitasking, aesthetically please and which smell divine. £36.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Mask

The first thing that you notice about this mask is that it is huge! It comes in a nice deep tub, the texture of the mask also means that a little goes a long way so you are getting a lot of bang for your buck with this product.

I will admit feels a bit sticky at first and takes about 20 minutes to begin to sink in which might not be for everybody but I kind of love it. This mask could not be easier to apply, you simply use your fingers or a brush and just apply a medium layer and let it work its magic and then blot with tissue but leave a thin layer. This mask contains squalane, glycerin and hyaluronic acid which work with your skin and leave it plump, dewy and baby soft.

I love that this mask is scent free and the efficacy of the ingredients mean that you see results after just one application. This is recommended to be used no more than twice a week. £34.

Beauty Pie Japanfusion Bio-Ceramide Moisture Mask

This is a mask that I fell in love with after one try. This mask from Beauty Pie is lightweight, sinks into the skin beautifully and you wake up glowing. It is packed full of great ingredients including exfoliating Yuzu ceramides, vitamin C and anti wrinkle grape extract. I also love to use this mask with tanning drops as it is quick drying.

Given that this is from Beauty Pie, the price point is lower but the quality is super luxe, this product completely lives up to the reviews. I would recommend this to anybody.
