By Jadie
I love a good notebook. I collect them, think long and hard about what I’m going to write on the first page, then panic I’ll ruin it and leave it empty for six months. Once the first page is neatly and finally inked, the rest is a free-for-all.
But my stationery obsession doesn’t stop at nice notebooks. Pens, post-its, cute ornamental desk pots – I’m a sucker for anything that looks pretty, meaning I’ve spent a LOT of time endlessly circling Typo, Kikki.K and Paperchase.
So who best to help organise your life with kitsch diaries and pre-made to-do lists than a seasoned stationery pro?
I bestow upon you all a very thorough guide to the best bits out there so you can finally sort your shit out for the remaining nine months of the year. You’re welcome.
Get a fun diary
BAN.DO I Am Very Busy Agenda, £22, House of Fraser
Here’s a diary that will keep you on track with everything and also give you a nerdy little kick while you’re doing it. Each month has a calendar view and weekly lay outs, plus cute cartoons/quotes/tasks littered throughout. Oh, and there are stickers, too, which you are definitely never too old to enjoy.
This diary can be a nightmare to get your hands on, though, purely because it sells out as soon as it’s restocked. But that’s a sign it’s a worthy investment.
Use cute pens
Metallic Hearts Boxed Pen, £10, Caroline Gardner
Forget using the nearest chewed up Bic, and treat yourself to a nice pen to write all your hopes/dreams/Burn Books.
Keep them together
Unicorn Pen Holder, £7, Typo
Can you get more basic than a rose gold unicorn? No. But it’s also kind of majestic, and while we’re here we may as well get a bit extra.
Cut some shapes
Gold Scissors, £7.50, Kikki.K
Regardless of whether you’ll use them, these look like something you’d find in Virginia Woolf’s stationery drawer. Perfect for all the crafts you may (or probably don’t) do.
Pick up post-its
Pose Tit Nose, £3.50 , Ohh Deer
Lol.
Tick Off To-Do Lists
Dots ‘Never Ending List’ Pad, £4.50, Paperchase
This one, so you can write down everything you’re not going to do at the bottom and still feel like you’ve accomplished something.
Clip It
Paperclip Sampler, £11.50, Present and Correct
Not sure that anyone actually uses these, but they look fun and could potentially double up as some very hipster earrings.
Start A Novel
A Sentence A Day Journal, £15, Kikki.K
Jot down just one line a day and watch your very own biography start to grow. After a year see how many times it says: “I am hungover.”
Stay Organised With A Wall Calendar
Paul Feuntes Wall Calendar, £29.90 , Junique
Edgy.
Tick Off Tape
Dancing Pug Tape, £4.50 , Ohh Deer
Well this is just too cute to pass up.
A Different Kind Of To-Do List
Daily Notepads: Energise, £6, Kikki.K
This is not just for the #wellness wankers. It’s for anyone who needs to find ‘balance’ in their lives – like hot yoga followed by a doner kebab.
Start Letter Writing
A Lady’s Writing Set, £20, Chase and Wonder
Set yourself up with a nice little vintage table by the window and pretend you’re writing love letters to your wartime boyfriends. Ruffled blouse optional.
Keep Your Correspondences Safe
Iridescent Metallic Letter Tray, £10, Paperchase
Exactly what you need now that you’re pinging off fancy letters left, right and centre.
Invest In A Stationery Subscription
Stationery Subscription, £200-260, Mark + Fold
One day.
